“VALIS (acronym of Vast Active Living Intelligence Sy-stem from an American film): A perturbation in the reality field in which a spontaneous self-monitoring negentropic vortex is formed, tending progressively to subsume and incorporate its environment into arrangements of information. Characterized by quasi-consciousness, purpose, intelligence, growth and an armillary coherence.
– Great Soviet Dictionary, Sixth Edition, 1992″
While there are myriad literary references in ABC’s ‘Lost,’ the overarching plot-thrust of the 6 season series is entirely based on VALIS by Philip K. Dick. This is revealed when the book appears in Season 4 Episode 4, ‘Eggtown.’
VALIS was published in 1981, the year before Dick died. It is an acronym, V-ast A-ctive L-iving I-ntelligence S-ystem. VALIS is an information-beaming Satellite orbiting in outer space, but not just any old Satellite. It is the basis for ‘the Savior’ in ‘holy’ scripture, the Ancient Archetype (Primordial im-age/ sym-bol of the Collective Unconscious) which has always (and never) been with (hu)mankind.
PKD’s visions of 2-3-74 and his viewing of the 1976 film ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’ starring David Bowie contain all of the reference material for the novel’s plot and characters (including Dick himself and his ‘fictional’ alter-ego Horselover Fat/ Philip Dick).
VALIS = The Ma(tri)x (Trilogy/ Trinity)
This entire site, which began in 2011, is a continuation/ autobiographical-fictional addendum of VALIS. Which is to say it is VALIS. Go ask Alice. We are living in a computer-programmed ‘reality.’
In 6 minutes ‘President Donald J. Trump’ will address the ‘nation,’ following his acquittal, having been only the 3rd impeached US president. Well, I have news for you: just like ‘The Man in Black’ used John Locke’s body after he was killed, the ‘real life’ equivalent of this ‘Man in Black’ is using ‘Donald J. Trump.’ Just like how Bob overtakes Leland Palmer and Agent Cooper, or Agent Smith copying himself over (possessing) others in ‘The Matrix. Or the Black Oil in ‘The X-Files.’
